About the Testing Center
The Testing Center administers both paper-and-pencil tests and computer-administered standardized tests that support the programs of CGTC and address community needs for admissions tests, distance learning, workforce development, credentials, and licenses. Services provided through the Testing Center are available to CGTC students and members of the community. The Testing Center provides special accommodations for test candidates with appropriately documented disabilities.
Tests Administered
College Placement Exam
At this time, placement testing has been suspended until further notice. The testing requirement has been waived for the admission process. The College has developed alternate measures for acceptance and placement.
ACT WorkKeys
Through ACT WorkKeys, skills that employers consider essential to job success are measured and documented by the National Career Readiness Certificate. Certified skill levels are then matched with existing or customized job profile requirements. The Testing Center administers these certification assessment tests and works with our Business and Industry Training Specialist to create customized job profiles.

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a nationally recognized assessment tool used as part of the admissions and selection process at CGTC for the Competitive Health Science Program. The TEAS is multiple-choice assessment measuring basic academic preparedness in reading, math, science, English and language usage. The objectives assessed in the test are those that nursing and allied health educators deem most relevant for measuring entry level skills and abilities of program applicants. The test not only predicts the performance of incoming candidates, it also helps educators gain advance knowledge of the strengths and areas needing development of those that are accepted into the program.
Applicants are encouraged to complete BIOL 2113 (Anatomy and Physiology) prior to the examination. Candidates’ highest score will be used for the rank order calculation. Exam scores are valid until a new version is in place. Each individual must purchase his or her own testing reservation. The exam is offered at CGTC campuses. A minimum score of 65 is required for the Associate of Science in Nursing program. Other programs requiring the TEAS for competitive selection do not have a minimum score requirement.
